Research Interests

My main research interest focus on critically ill pediatric patients. The main areas of interest are sepsis, hospital-acquired infections in patients treated in intensive care units, mechanical ventilation implementation, and nutrition in critically ill children. As principal investigator, I have participated in numerous national and international research projects. I have the priviledge to be the Director of the Postgraduate Program in Emergency and Intensive Care of Children Adolescents and Young Adults, having the opportunity to supervise more than 100 MSc theses, and participate in numerous doctoral dissertations. I am one of the founding members of the working group, responsible for the paediatric population, for the establishment of updated criteria for brain and cardiac death, solid organ transplantations, and end-of-life care. I have been awarded for my work by the European Society of Paediatric Intensive Care .
