Evangelos I. Kritsotakis is a Professor of Biostatistics at the School of Medicine, University of Crete. Ηe joined the School’s Division of Social Medicine as an Associate Professor in December 2018 and was elected Full Professor in May 2026. Previously, he served as a tenured Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics at the University of Sheffield, UK, from 2014 to 2018. He maintained an Honorary Senior Lecturer role in the School of Medicine and Population Health at the University of Sheffield until December 2024.
He is a Chartered Statistician (CStat) with the Royal Statistical Society in the UK, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK, and the recipient of the 2009 William Jarvis Award from the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. He serves as Senior Associate Editor for the journal “Public Health” of the Royal Society for Public Health, and as Associate Editor for “npj Primary Care Respiratory Medicine” of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group. He is also a member of the Student Conference Award Committee of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics. He is a statistical reviewer for journals in the Lancet group and conducts ad hoc reviews for several reputable health science journals. He was recognised as one of the top reviewers for the journal “Clinical Microbiology and Infection” of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in 2020.

Research Interests
Kritsotakis’ research interests focus on biostatistical principles and methods for the design, analysis, and reporting of clinical and epidemiological studies in acute care hospitals and other healthcare settings. His main research interests include:
• Design and analysis of aetiologic and prognostic clinical studies using survival analysis methods.
• Development, validation and implementation of clinical prediction models and algorithms.
• Evaluation of clinical and population interventions with quasi-experimental studies, interrupted time series designs, and controlled randomized trials.
• Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of epidemiological studies
• Interdisciplinary research in the clinical epidemiology of infections, multi-drug-resistant microorganisms and antimicrobial drugs.
