Dr. Evaggelia Akoumianaki, Assistant Professor of Intensive Care Medicine, graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) School of Medicine in 2000 and specialized in Pulmonology and Tuberculosis at “Sotiria” Hospital. She specialized in Intensive Care at the University Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI) and received her specialization title in Intensivology in 2011. She holds a doctoral dissertation, which she received in 2014 from the School of Medicine at the University of Crete, on the topic of the effect of various mechanical ventilation models on the respiratory effort of critically ill patients.
From 2011-2013, she worked as a researcher in the ICU of the Geneva University Hospitals (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, HUG), in the team of Professor Laurent Brochard. From 2016 to 2017, she worked as an intensivist in Germany (Göttingen (Universitätsklinikum Göttingen, Klinikum Kassel, Hessen, Deutschland)).
