Katerina Vaporidi is a specialist in adult respiratory and intensive care medicine, Professor of Intensive Care at the Medical School of the University of Crete. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras, specialised in Respiratory medicine and Intensive Care at the ICU of PAGNI. She completed her PhD thesis at the University of Crete and continued her postdoctoral research in Boston at the Anesthesia Center for Critical Care Research, Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a faculty member of the University of Crete Medical School and has been working as a physician at the ICU of Pagni since 2010. She is also the head of the PAGNI cardiopulmonary exercise testing laboratory and the experimental ICU laboratory at the Medical School. Her research interests include mechanical ventilation and immunological mechanisms in sepsis and acute lung injury. She is involved in mechanical ventilation education by participating as a trainer in Greek and international conferences and seminars. She is a member of the Greek and European Society of Intensive Care.
