Dr. Vasarmidi is a Pulmonologist, Assistant Professor in School of Medicine, University of Crete.
After completing her Medical Studies in the School of Medicine, University of Crete (prize of excellence), she attended the Master program of the Molecular Basis of Human Diseases (graduated top of the class), and then she completed her PhD at the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Pneumonology, entitled “Mitophagy and oxidation status of mitochondria in IPF Macrophages”. She completed the Residency of Pulmonology in 2020, at the Respiratory Department of the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete.
She received a Long-Term Research Fellowship by the European Respiratory Society to work in Paris (INSERM/Hopital Bichat) under the guidance of Prof Bruno Crestani. She has also received two Research Awards by the Hellenic Thoracic Society (2015 and 2022), as well as several Awards in National Congresses.
Dr. Vasarmidi is an active member of the Hellenic Thoracic Society (HTS), and the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and has the honor to belong in the ERS College of Experts (CoE), to be an active ERS Task Force member, and a member of the ERS Methodology Network. Since 2024, Dr Vasarmidi is the early career member (ECM) representative of the ILD group in HTS.

Dr Vasarmidi has a special interest in Rare and Interstitial Lung Diseases; both idiopathic and autoimmune-related.
