The Division of Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to the pre-clinical training of Medical Students and to provide state of the art Clinical Laboratory services at the University Hospital of Heraklion. At the same time, the Division provides training to MSc and PhD students through the research laboratories, which conduct internationally competitive research. Research in the division aims to advance scientific and clinical knowledge on disease mechanisms and facilitate development of new diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive measures. The Division includes 10 faculty members and the following laboratories:

- Laboratory of Experimental Endocrinology
- Laboratory of Clinical Chemistry
- Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology and Microbial Pathogenesis (CMMP)
- Laboratory of Clinical Virology
